The same mechanism as dry crackle, in a darker, wetter form. Ground drying out after rain cracks differently from parched desert – the cracks are narrower, darker and the surface keeps a damp cast. Wet Crackle Effects is made for that in-between state, and on a vehicle's underside it produces exactly the kind of grime that flakes away.

What it is good for

What to combine it with
The dry, lighter variant is Light and Dry Crackle Effects. Build the surrounding terrain from Terrains Wet Ground and add splatter with Splatter Effects Wet Mud. Pick out remaining damp with spot gloss varnish or a pool of Puddles.

Can it go straight onto a model?
Yes, on the lower hull and tracks. Flaking mud is among the most convincing weathering effects because it shows time – a deposit that has already begun to fall away.
How do I get a finer crack network?
Apply a thinner layer and let it dry slowly at room temperature. A hairdryer widens cracks, so skip it when you want a fine network.
How do I clean my tools?
Water, as long as the material is still wet. Rinse the brush right after use – the cured acrylic product will not come off.
Can the effect be painted over?
Yes, once fully cured. A thinned wash deepens the cracks and a drybrush picks out the edges between them.
