Frost Blue from the Ionic Smart Colors range – a bright icy azure for frost effects. Matt 20 ml acrylic.

Frost Blue is a bright azure with a turquoise pull – cold, luminous and very assertive. It is the colour of frost and ice magic: on a figure it reads at once as a source of cold light. On ordinary cloth it is almost too saturated; on effects it is exactly right.

What it is good for on miniatures

Frequently asked questions

How do I paint a frost blade?
Base with a dark blue, fill the centre with Frost Blue, touch the edge with white and glaze the same blue onto nearby surfaces. Without lit surroundings it just looks like a blue sword.

Does it cover a dark base?
Moderately. Under bright cold effects it is always worth basing with white – the luminosity rises sharply.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
