Khaki is a mid olive-brown – exactly the colour armies have used for a century because it disappears in the field. On a figure it is calm and obedient: it takes both shade and highlight, and next to bright colours it lets them stand out.

What it is good for on miniatures

What is the difference between Khaki and Deck Grey?
Khaki is darker and browner, Deck Grey lighter and greyer. Khaki is the base coat of a uniform, Deck Grey more its highlight.

What do I highlight it with?
Desert Sand or Sand. White would turn it into a cold grey-green that looks unpleasant on a uniform.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
