Rot and Decay Set by CHK Minis – 12 Ionic 20 ml paints for rot and decay. Signature set.

Decay is hard to paint because it is never one colour – rotting flesh has greenish, yellowish and violet patches at once. CHK Minis selected twelve shades that cover exactly that: unhealthy greens, dirty flesh tones and dark violets for the deepest wounds.

Frequently asked questions

How do I paint decomposing flesh?
Not in one colour. Base with an unhealthy flesh tone, glaze greenish into the recesses, touch the wounds with a dark red and add yellow at the edges. Decay is about patches, not smooth gradients.

Are the colours usable outside horror?
Yes. The muted greens and dirty flesh tones work very well on bases, swamps and old cloth.

How do I thin these paints?
With water or an Ionic thinner. They are self-hydrating, so they stay workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop for brush work, roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the set better value than single jars?
If you need at least half the shades, yes – the set costs less than the same number of individual jars. If you are missing only two, buy them separately in the Ionic Smart Colors category.
