Ruins Grey is a light grey with an olive cast – the colour of weathered stone and old render. It is a calm tone that works as the main colour of masonry on bases and as a muted highlight on grey cloth.

Frequently asked questions

How do I paint a ruin that does not look newly built?
Unevenness and transitions. Base with Ruins Grey, give some bricks a deliberately different colour, glaze brown into the joints and add green moss patches near the ground. A ruin is about irregularity.

How does it differ from Moon Grey?
Ruins Grey is more olive and warmer, Moon Grey more neutral. Use Ruins Grey for stone and Moon Grey for metal and technical surfaces.

How do I thin this paint?
With water or an Ionic thinner. The formula is self-hydrating, so it stays workable on the palette far longer than ordinary acrylics – a drop is enough for brush work, and roughly 1 : 1 for airbrush.

Is the finish really matt?
Yes, it dries matt with no shiny patches. If the figure is going on the gaming table, seal it with a matt varnish at the end.
