Parched earth in exactly the right light shade – with one property that decides everything: while the paste is still wet you can press marks into it. A wheel rut, a track print, a boot print. These are the details that separate a base from a scene. Allow 24 hours for a full cure; until then the surface can still be worked.

Press the marks into the wet paste and add mud once dry with Terrains Wet Ground or Terrains Muddy Ground. Settle dust with pigments from the Pigments category and crack the soil with Light and Dry Crackle Effects. Pour puddles into the ruts with Puddles.
How do I press in a track mark?
Cast the model's track into modelling clay, or wrap the track itself in film and press it into the paste after about an hour, once it has stiffened but is still workable.
How does it differ from Desert Sand?
Dry Ground is browner and coarser – it is soil. Desert Sand is finer and lighter – it is sand. A Mediterranean scene usually wants both.
How do I clean my tools?
Water, as long as the paste is still wet. Rinse the spatula and the old brush right after use – cured acrylic paste will not come off.
Can the paste be thinned?
Yes, with water or acrylic thinner if you need it to flow better. Thinning costs it some shape retention, so go easy.
